• Number of applications: We ask that each school submit exactly three applications per award (no less; no more).

-  If your university has 3 awards, you need to submit 9 applications.
-  If your university only has 1 award, you submit only 3 applications.
-  If you submit more than 3, our committee will select the 3 to move forward with. Therefore, we strongly encourage you to select your top 3 candidates.

-  In order for any your candidates to be eligible, you must submit the proper amount of nominations for your school.

• Interviews: It is very likely your three candidates will move forward in the interview process. Unless you hear from us regarding any issues or eligibility, they will move forward. We will let you know if there is an issue.

• Interviews are pre-scheduled. Applicants need to provide any potential scheduling conflicts in advance, otherwise we cannot promise the ability to accommodate. Dates for the interviews are posted above.

• Each University receives (1) invitation to the Scholarship Luncheon and (2) invitations Induction Dinner. They do not have to be the same (2) people at each event.

• Are we able to get feedback on past application cycles?
A: Absolutely. Please reach out and we would be happy to discuss with you any questions you have regarding past application cycles.

• How do you know how many awards per school?
Most schools will receive one (1) “Future Texas Business Legend Scholarship.” Donors are invited provided funding for TBHF awards at a specific school.  In the case of these “named” scholarships, there may be more than one per school, depending upon the number of funded awards.

• Do applicants require a "faculty sponsor"?
A: Each application should be endorsed by a Faculty or Staff member, such as a professor, program director or dean.  As such, we request a letter of recommendation from someone in the program who knows the applicant.

• Does a student need to have a year left to graduate after the scholarship is awarded?
A: Each university and program is different. Ideally, students should be enrolled in the upcoming academic year, and should not have graduated before the Scholarship Luncheon and Induction Dinner – please be sure the TBHF scholarship team is aware if you have a non-standard program.

• Do our nominees have to be full-time students?
A: No. This also depends upon each school’s program. We understand that some schools have an executive MBA, part-time and night-time options, and we want to be flexible as needed.

• Is there a restriction on Texas residency, US citizen, etc.?
A: Applicants must be a US citizen or planning a long-term career in Texas. We are looking for candidates who will be staying in Texas and giving back to the Texas economy. Therefore, the Ideal Candidate is a Texas resident. However, if you have a student who is a permanent resident planning to stay in Texas and work here, they are technically eligible. If a student is not a US citizen or Texas resident, this should be explained in their letter of recommendation and/or statement of interest.
